01 Feb Aromatherapy for Emotional Wellbeing
Aromatherapy is a holistic healing treatment that uses natural plant extracts and essential oils to promote health and well-being. Not a miracle cure, but it can assist sometimes with particular emotional issues and states. Some of the health benefits include its ability to reduce anxiety, depression, boost energy levels, speed up the healing process, boost cognitive performance, induce sleep, strengthen the immune system, reduce pain, improve digestion and increase circulation among other things.
Some essential oils you can use in your daily life could enhance your emotional well-being like:
- Lavender can help you relax and even get a good night’s sleep. Try putting 3-4 drops of essential oil on the back of your pillow before going to sleep.
- Lemon can be helpful in staying focused and alert. Try adding a few drops in a diffuser at work to help you concentrate.
- Eucalyptus can help you breathe better and a great essential oil to use in the winter. Next time you feel some congestion, or are dealing with a cold or flu, add a few drops to a hand cloth and set it to the side while taking a hot shower.
- Chamomile is known for its sedative and soothing qualities. It can help with calming a stressed mind and tense body and has also been used to ease feelings of grief, anger and discontent. Fill your house with the fragrance of chamomile by adding a few drops to a diffuser and have it be the first thing that fills you up after a long day at work.
